Seminar for M.Ed. Mathematics
Brief Overview
This course has been designed to fulfill the needs of M.Ed. in Mathematics program at School of Education Kathmandu University. This course aims to provide in-depth ideas of historical foundation of mathematics from different historical era. It will be helpful to create sound foundation of mathematics that can be helpful to understand history, philosophy and pedagogy of mathematics.
Objectives
The objectives of the course are –
- To develop an understanding of historical foundation of development of mathematics
- To develop creativity and critical thinking in students about contributions of mathematicians
Seminar Activities
- Select an area of presentation
- Prepare twenty power-point slides for presentation
- Submit the slides prior to the presentation
- Make an hour presentation on your topic
- Write a term paper on the topic you presented and submit to tutor.
Evaluation Criteria
Preparation of Slides for Half an Hour – 20 Points
Discussion on Presentation (Comments on Slides, Presentation and Critical Reflection) – 20 Points
Long Paper in the area of Presentation – 50 Points
Participation/Regularities – 10 Points
